2008 friendly voting league
We have calculated how many times each country received a “friendly” vote – i.e. a score above the nation’s average (taking into account standard deviation).
Once again there are post-contest complaints in the media about so called ‘bloc’ or political voting influencing the outcome. However Russia comes 11th in the bloc voting league for 2008 so it appears they were deserving victors.
Country / ‘Friendly’ Votes Received in 2008
Armenia 11
Turkey 10
Georgia 9
Ukraine 8
Azerbaijan 8
Bosnia Herzegovina 8
Portugal 8
Latvia 7
Greece 7
Iceland 7
Russia 7
Norway 6
Serbia 6
Albania 5
Finland 5
Denmark 5
France 4
Spain 4
Sweden 4
Israel 4
Romania 3
Croatia 3
United Kingdom 2
Poland 2
Germany 1

It is not only about friendly votes.. it is also about number of immigrants from the country-in-a-competition leaving in a country-voting. Result indicates only how many Russians are abroad, how many Ukrainians are abroad… you can’t vote for your country (where you live) but you can vote for your country (where you are from originally). If you can’t support you country you are rarely to call or send SMS, but you can support it, you will do it even if it doesn’t deserv it.
How votes are counted should be changed. Vote counting should go on streets and pick up people on the streets… otherwise there will be always Israel voting for Russia, Germany voting for Turkey and Portugal voting for Ukraine (and this has nothing to do with blocs).

… and of course you can’t beat a “friendly” votes… but results will be much more in line with performance

Hi!
Can I possibly be informed which are the 7 friendly nations to Greece??? There is only one and it is Cyprus as we all know. I don’t know how the administrator managed to find 6 more!!! The final result was totally altered because of the friendly Soviet-Yougoslavian-Scandianavian blocks. The real winner was Kalomira-Greece and we all know that!!! I think it’s a failed try to present that the voting was not affected by the friendly-nations. The biggest lies come always with mumbers and with this kind of statistics! Russia’s position should have been maximum the third. Even Armenia’s song is being played more often in clubs and affairs as the greek song, too but not Dima Bilan’s song. Life is not fair. Don’t try to prove that it is! Thanks for reading.
