Our main survey of voting intentions gained media coverage during Eurovision 2007, mainly because our results disagreed with the ‘conventional’ view that the contest is now dominated by ‘neighbourly’ or ‘friendly’ voting. While some traditional allegiances remain active, recent winners have continued to be stand-out acts who gained support from both east and west.
